The Hiatus Is Over–Part 1

It’s been quite a while since my last post. It’s not like nothing has been going on–this has to be a 2-parter just to hit the high spots and catch up. I’ve been traveling, and I’ve had people coming to see me. I’m going to post photos that are so old that I can’t even wear those clothes anymore. If you haven’t seen me in a while or any of my pics, you may be inclined to think I am getting fat. Please remember: The camera adds 10 pounds.

I suppose I should start with my trip to Hillsville. This was way back in February when everyone on the Mitchell side were having birthdays (and Great Aunt Ellen). The wind was really making a spectacle of itself. I was holding on tight to keep from being blown away, and I wondered if Great Grandma Semones was going to make it in to see me. It howled all night and beat you up all day if you tried to go anywhere. It had snowed earlier in the week, but there was nothing left when I got there. Fortunately, the Grandfolks saved me some snow from earlier in the week.

I thought I was going to get to ride on a tractor for the first time, but too much wind and cold weather. Nevertheless, it was a good time. PaPa Mitchell fed me my bottle in the mornings and MaMa Mitchell fed me my solids during the day. Pops just sat on the couch and watched TV all day–tough life.

During the trip, I also hung out with my cousin CC. She doesn’t freak me out as much as she used to. She no longer sidles up behind me and say baby in my ear. I know it’s a little late, but Happy Birthday Cuz!

A few weeks later, it was time to head to West Point and see the Pyne family. Pops stayed at home just like Mom stayed at home when I went to Hillsville. I suppose they both ended up running around the house in their underwear pantomiming some really bad song from the 80’s or 90’s. I don’t understand old people.

Grandpa Pyne used the weather to his advantage and beat the Mitchell’s to the punch to put me on a tractor. The heated John Deere versus Ford rivalry is now in high gear, and I am somehow stuck in the middle.

Other than my two trips, the biggest news is that I’m crazy mobile. I’m crawling all over the place. Mostly I crawl backwards, which gets me into trouble.

I can now pull myself up and stand as long as there is something to hold on to. The Folks get real excited when I do this, so I pull it out whenever things get boring around here.

I know I’ve been lazy over the last month or so, but I’m back in the game and have plenty to say once I catch up. I can talk about anything now:, the NBA playoffs, NFL draft, upcoming election, stock market predictions. You name it, I’ll have an opinion.  Another post is coming later this week to catch up and there are plenty more pics coming.
